Event Description The aim of this two-day training is to equip all who work with teenagers to understand and handle teenage behaviour, to build their confidence, self-esteem and skills as well as encourage involvement in the community.

This course will provide professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver the 'Future For Families' Parenting Programme. The course teaches workers how to use the parenting programme to run parent groups, or use the materials with parents on an individual basis. Workers are awarded a handbook that provides a step-by-step guide to running each parent session, as well as a book of handout materials

Trainer: Joy Osborn (Joy is a highly regarded National Trainer and Company Director of Future Childcare Training. More information is available online at: http://www.futurechildcaretraining.com/

Course attendance criteria: Available for all Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole practitioners at the subsidised rate, who work with children, young people and their families to improve their outcomes: Including Private, Voluntary and Independent sector, Schools, Health and Local Authority staff.

Limited to 2 practitioners per organisation, (more than this number may register to be included on the waiting list and will be offered a place numbers permitting.)

We need the following information to process the invoice for you: Bookings from organisations other than Bournemouth Childcare settings must provide the following information : Event title; date and participant name (if the special requirements field in the booking request is not used) purchase order number/cost code and contact details to send the invoice to i.e. contact name, email and address.

Additional Support: If you have any specific learning or physical needs or require additional support to enable you to engage with this programme please describe your need and how we can assist you in the special requirements box when you book. With sufficient advance notice, learning materials can be tailored to suit particular needs and support can be given in test conditions.

Event Outcomes An understanding of teenage development and how self-esteem impacts
on behaviour.

An understanding of the scope of the course materials and its
application in both groups and individual settings.

A working knowledge of the ‘Future for Families' Handling Teenage
Behaviour Parenting Programme materials.

Familiarity with the exercises and techniques used on the course and
an understanding of how to use these with parents.

An approach that aims to prevent family breakdown and keep teenagers
safe in all aspects of their lives.

An understanding of teenage behaviour and how to provide a framework
for handling behaviour that parents can relate to and use in family life.

An understanding of the importance and impact that collective
responsibility can have in the community on the behaviour of young

Adequate knowledge and skills to set up and run their own ‘Future for
Families' 8 week parenting programme to groups of parents/carers, as well
as use the materials within individual family units.

There is an expectation that workers and parents will complete an
evaluation form to enable us to provide evidence concerning the
effectiveness of this parenting programme.
