Event Description Elklan is a highly successful accredited course particularly aimed at practitioners who support 3 - 5 year olds. It will be especially beneficial for practitioners working with children with delayed speech and language development. However, the course is designed to support the speech and language development of all children within the setting.

The course provides a Level 2 or Level 3 Accreditation through The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) awarded on submission of your portfolio. 9 credits will be awarded at either Level 2 or 3 (depending on the standard of the work in your portfolio but each level gains 9 credits maximum) and will REQUIRE 90 HOURS study across the seven weeks of the course.

All work is submitted using ELKLAN's online portal for external marking. Accreditation is dependent on ELKLAN's criteria of: 80% attendance level (where session 1 is mandatory), and successful completion of ALL assignments.

Both tutors are licensed by ELklan.

• 3 hours attending the taught session with your tutors
• 2 hours planning and implementing activities and tasks with children to complete your portfolio assignments
• 1-2 hours writing up your portfolio answers
• 3 hours talking about the course with a colleague, thinking, observing the communication skills of children with and without difficulties, background reading and reflecting on that which you have learnt.

Each session provides targets the practitioner will be able to achieve by the end of the course. Learners are required to produce written assignments based on the work carried out with children in their setting. Assignments are submitted weekly using the Elklan online student portal.

Following successful completion of the course, the trainers offer one fully funded supportive monitoring visit per learner to assess the impact of the learning and offer additional support to embed practice.

Entry Requirements/Course Suitability: The course is suitable for childminders and early years practitioners who have a minimum of a level 2 early years qualification. It is also suitable for children's centre Early Years Practitioners and for school Reception Class teachers or Teaching Assistants.

The Level 2 Elklan accreditation is achievable for most learners. The Level 3 Elklan accreditation requires learners to be capable of more in-depth study and to plan, implement, describe, and carefully justify and evaluate their practice.
